趙 勇 (2007年4月1月〜2008年3月31月 Beijing Friendship Hospital of China )

河野教授と趙先生
I am Zhao yong, an internal doctor from Beijing Friendship Hospital of China. From April of 2007 to March of 2008, I was appreciated to be given a chance to study at the second department of internal medicine in Nagasaki University under the guidance of professor Kohno and Izumikawa, which was sponsored by Sasakawa fellowships of Japan Nippon foundation. To be given a chance to study at Nagasaki University was very precious to me, since infection associated research here was most superior in Japan.

Since I spend much time in clinic practice before and had a limited laboratory technique, professor Izumikawa teach me every technique patiently, from making basic fungal culture to mastering advanced molecular biology protocols. With the guidance of professor Kohno and Izumikawa and the help of all friends in the laboratory, I learned PCR diagnosis on pathogenic fungi from clinical specimens, and finished some basic murine experiments on observing antifungal effects of Chinese herbals after testifying their antifungal effect by CLSI protocols. In addition, I was lucky to be given the chance to learn transfection technique by gene gun. But beside the laboratory techniques, what impressed deep on me was the research attitude of preciseness and verity, shown by professor Izumikawa. To give a final result which would be published, experiment would be repeated several times by using variety of methods, altering experiment parameters.

I learned much from everyday morning lecture, not only medical knowledge, but also a kind of mutual prompting spirit toward success, which will encourage me in my last life. Sometimes in the morning lecture, there were some speeches given by many young doctors of the second internal department, who came back from U.S.A. annual meetings, with their paper published. Their excellent work prompted me go ahead, wherever in Japan or in China.

Another excellent tradition in the second internal department was professor conference, which I had not experienced in China. Every two months, every research group will report their research process to professor, face to face, one by one. At that kind circumstance, not to be shame for less work make me study more and work more. I think that professor conference make me get more at that one year in Nagasaki.

Although Nagasaki was a new environment for me, professor Kohno and Izumikawa and every Japanese friend in the internal department helped a lot to make me feel easy as in China. It was too barren to describe all the Japanese friends with the words as hospitable, generous and warm hearted and so on. I should say that one year opened my eyes to Japan and Japanese, before that I had not an idea about that.

Culture difference between Japan and China did not become a gap among me and professor Kohno and Izumikawa, and other Japanese friends. Since peace and development would dominate the world in the future, I believed that China and Japan would be best neighbors in the future, benefiting and prompting each other. I wish to devote all my life to the medicine and friendship between Japan and China.
