| On November 12th 1857, at Medical School in Nagasaki West Public Office of Shogun Government(Location of precious Prefectural Office), modern western-style medical teaching was started by Dutch Navy doctor Pompe van Meerdervoort. This day is the anniversary of the founding of Nagasaki University School of Medicine. In 2017, we celebrated its 160th anniversary.
